Stress Less Family Photography Session

This is the fourth time that I’ve worked with this family. Previously we had done styled and lightly posed photos. This time I asked if they would be okay with me trying out a new documentary style—no posing. They happily agreed.

I love this style of photography because it allows everyone to relax and be themselves. Particularly dads seem more at ease with this type of family photography because they can wear their regular clothes and aren’t required to smile.

My work is a lot different during these types of sessions because I’m not actively telling people what I want them to do. Instead, I’m looking for moments and trying to tell an honest story of the family I see in front of me.

At this session the girls were still getting ready for the day and during the session mom started making lunch, while the kids played around the house.
